The North Platte River (also North Platte ) is next to the South Platte River one of the headwaters of the Platte River in the USA .
The 1,094 km long river has its source near the city of Walden , Colorado , in the Rocky Mountains . In its further course it flows through the US states Wyoming and Nebraska . In Wyoming in Glendo State Park it is dammed by a dam to form a large reservoir, the Glendo Reservoir, and its water is used to generate electricity.
