Rizal is a municipality in the Philippine province of Cagayan . In 2015 it had 17,994 inhabitants. In the west the municipality borders on the province of Apayao . The community, which was called Malaueg before 1914, is located in a partly mountainous area. In certain parts of the municipality, the terrain rises to over 400 meters. Most of the time agriculture is practiced in the valley. Rice , corn and tobacco are the most important crops.
