Ballesteros is a municipality in the Philippine province of Cagayan . The municipality is located in the north of the province on the South China Sea and was founded in 1912 . The place is inhabited by different Filipino peoples. The largest are the Ilokano and the Negrito . In 2015 the 125.1 km² area had 34,299 inhabitants, resulting in a population density of 274 inhabitants per km².
