Nüstenbach is a place in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg , which has belonged to Mosbach since 1935 .
geography
The place is about two kilometers north of Mosbach in a basin of the Nüstenbach valley on the five kilometer long Nüstenbach stream.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1305 on the occasion of a donation of income from goods in various places in the area to the collegiate church of St. Juliana . However, the place is probably much older and was founded as an extension of an older place before the year 1000. The original town center was to the left of the stream of the same name, it wasn't until the late Middle Ages that the place expanded to include the right bank of the stream. That is why the part of the village on the right bank is still called the “hamlet” and was part of the Mosbach collegiate church for a time before it became part of Neckarelz ecclesiastically like the rest of the village . Nüstenbach has had its own cemetery since 1596, but its own church, the Nüstenbach village church , was not built until the 18th century.
Already at the time of the first mention, viticulture was an important economic factor of the place, which was given up only in the 19th century due to insufficient income.
In 1413, Count Palatine Otto I acquired the nearby Lohrbach Castle , whereupon Nüstenbach was added to the associated castle district. Until 1803, the place was therefore under the respective Lohrbach bailiff. In the course of the reorganization of the German southwest in the Napoleonic era, Nüstenbach then became an independent municipality. In 1933 there were 219 inhabitants. On April 1, 1935, Nüstenbach was incorporated into Mosbach . In 1971 the place had 250 inhabitants.
