Nǃxau

Nǃxau , actually ! Nxauǂtoma , also Gcao Tekene Çoma (born December 16, 1944 near Tsumkwe , South West Africa ; † between July 1 and July 5, 2003 there ), was a Namibian actor from the San people.

Life

N!xau ǂToma was his starring role as "Bushmen" Xixo in the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy and its sequels The Gods Must Be Crazy II , now even more crazy Gods and The Gods Must Be Crazy III famous worldwide. N! Xau returned to Namibia in the mid-1990s and lived with his people again.

The exact date of his death is not known. Since N!xau ǂToma did not return from a timber search on 1 July 2003, it was looking for his family and found him dead. The police confirmed his death on July 5, 2003. The exact cause of death is also unknown, but it is believed that he died of tuberculosis as he had suffered from the disease for a long time.

In 2019 he was posthumously honored for his life's work at the Namibian Theater and Film Awards .
