The N24 Media GmbH was until July 10, 2014 the sole operator of the German TV channel N24 (now World ). As of July 11, 2014, its activities were merged with the activities of the Welt -Gruppe into WeltN24 GmbH. The previous company was dissolved at the end of 2014. WeltN24 GmbH has been the sole operator of N24 since January 1, 2015. WeltN24 (formerly: N24 Media) is a specialist provider of news in various formats (television, Internet and tabloid programs) and is economically independent of the two largest private media operators RTL Group and ProSiebenSat.1 Media .

The subsidiary Maz & More TV Produktion GmbH produces the Sat.1 breakfast TV on weekdays for Sat.1 and the program Echt Gold - Mein Magazin on weekdays .

The television station N24 achieved a market share of 1.4 percent in the age group of 14 to 49-year-old viewers in 2011. This makes N24 the market leader among German news channels. N24 has maintained its position as market leader since 2004. N24 produces a 24-hour program, as well as the news for the TV stations ProSieben, SAT.1 and kabel eins.

As a third-party broadcasting company, N24 Media tried to secure airtime for Sat.1, but this failed for the time being.

Company history

In February 2011, the operation of the television station N24 and N24 Media were legally separated. The transmission rights of the former N24 GmbH were transferred to Blitz B10-263 GmbH, which was later renamed N24 Gesellschaft für Nachrichten und Zeitgeschehen mbH. The transfer of assets of the television station was thus guaranteed. In this process, N24 Media GmbH became the new sole owner of the new N24 Gesellschaft für Nachrichten und Zeitgeschehen mbH. The program also changed its broadcast license from the special interest channel to a full program.

The owners of N24 Media were Torsten Rossmann and Stefan Aust with shares of 26 percent each and Frank Meißner , Maria von Borcke , Thorsten Pollfuß and Karsten Wiest with shares of 12 percent each. All owners are also managing directors of N24 Media.

The former subsidiary N24 Gesellschaft für Nachrichten und Zeitgeschehen mbH achieved profitability for the first time in September 2009, 1 year earlier than calculated, so the new owners showed that a second news channel in Germany can be operated economically.

On December 9, 2013, Axel Springer AG announced that it would take over 100 percent of N24 Media GmbH and merge the editorial offices of N24 and Die Welt .

Holdings

N24 Media held a 49 percent stake in Agenda Media GmbH. Other owners were the Studio Hamburg Produktion (25.1 percent) as well as Stefan Aust (13.4 percent) and the film author Thomas Ammann (12.5 percent).
