Thomas Ammann (journalist)

Thomas Ammann (* 1956 ) is a German journalist and TV producer . He has been deputy editor-in-chief of stern since October 1, 2014 .

After training as a car mechanic , Ammann studied visual communication with a focus on documentary film at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts . From 1983 to 1992 Ammann worked for NDR television . In 1993, Ammann became managing editor-in-chief at " Spiegel TV " and editor-in-chief of the pay TV channel "Spiegel TV Digital". From 2008 he was editor-in-chief and author of the TV production company Agenda Media.

Ammann is the author or co-author of numerous television documentaries, including “From Auschwitz to Entebbe ”, “Apocalypse in Le Mans ” and the Arte report “The Plundered State”, which was awarded the third prize of the Helmut Schmidt Journalist Prize. Together with Stefan Aust , Ammann published “Hitler's human traffickers”, “The Porsche saga: A family history of the automobile” and “The digital dictatorship - total surveillance, data abuse, cyber war ”.
