The NMS Dirmhirngasse is a new middle school in the 23rd district of Liesing in Vienna . With forest pedagogy, the school has a scientific focus. The late historical building from 1888 at No. 29 is under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
The late historical school building at No. 29 was built in 1888 according to the plans of the architects Julius Fröhlich and Josef Maresch. The school was expanded from 1991 to 1994 according to the plans of the architect Boris Podrecca on the opposite side of the street and connected with a bridge.
architecture
The bridge school in Vienna-Liesing is housed in two school buildings at Dirmhirngasse No. 138 and No. 29. The two school buildings are connected by a bridge over Dirmhirngasse, which is where the term bridge school comes from.
For leisure activities, the school has equipped leisure rooms, modern sports halls, two IT rooms, a gymnastics room as well as a grass sports field and playground.
Educational offers
- Forest pedagogy: Forest is on the timetable as a compulsory subject : four hours every two weeks for first graders, once a month for second graders, and two forest courses every six months for third and fourth grades. The forest pedagogue responsible for this is employed half a job at the school.
- The school offers afternoon care.
Awards
- In 2018 the school was awarded 2nd place in the Austrian School Prize (State Prize for Education and Teaching).
- The school is a model school (best practice) of the Vienna City School Council (now Education Directorate for Vienna ).
- The school is an innovative school in the network of the Chamber of Labor .
