regulate
The rules at the NRL Auckland Nines differ in many ways from the normal NRL rules. The main differences are:
- A game lasts 2 × 9 minutes with a two-minute half-time break.
- A team consists of nine players and five substitutes.
- There is no video evidence .
- There is a so-called "bonus zone" behind the crossbars of the rugby goal. If an attempt is placed in the bonus zone, it counts not four, but five points.
- Raises and kick-offs are executed by drop kick.
- Time penalties only last three minutes.
- Possession changes after five tackles.
