NSU Superlux, built in 1955

The NSU Lux was a motorcycle from NSU-Werke , Neckarsulm , which was built from 1951 to 1956. 78,845 units were produced.

construction

Two-stroke engine from the NSU Superlux

Based on the model of the smaller NSU Fox (1949 to 1954), the machine had a sheet steel frame (central press frame), a cantilever rocker arm and a front fork with a pushed short rocker arm. The hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and rear , however, were new .

A special feature of the engine was the "calm" air that flowed below the saddle into the frame and from there into the carburetor (see picture). This “detour” promised a particularly careful filtering through which, according to advertising, the wear on the cylinder was “reduced to a minimum”.

The larger NSU Max with a four-stroke engine was later developed from the LUX . In addition, the frame and chassis of the LUX have been reinforced for the higher engine power. Later, however, the frames and the chassis of LUX and MAX were standardized to simplify production. By exchanging the motor, a SUPERLUX can be turned into a SPEZIALMAX. All holes, threads and brackets are available.
