The half-timbered house in the street Nach dem Wieschen 1 is a building in Darmstadt-Arheilgen .
History and description
The rare knee-high house was built in 1782 . The one-and-a-half-storey, gabled half-timbered building has a gable roof . The structural peculiarity of this house type is that the eaves are higher by the amount of the parapet than the floor- defining beam position between the ground floor and the upper floor . Thereby a better use of living space on the upper floor is achieved. The ground floor and knee stick each have their own corner post; which is only designed as a short stump at the top. The compartments of the two wall parts have no relationship to one another.
Monument protection
The Kniestockhaus is unique in the rural area of Darmstadt. It is a cultural monument for architectural and city-historical reasons .
