Nadav Lapid (born April 8, 1975 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli film director and screenwriter . He studied philosophy in Tel Aviv and literature in Paris. In 2006 he graduated from The Sam Spiegel Film & Television School . Since 2004 he has made several short films, a documentary and four feature film productions. Often he also wrote the respective script.

In 2016, Lapid was selected as a member of the jury for the side series Semaine de la critique , which was held parallel to the 69th Cannes International Film Festival .

In 2019 he won the Golden Bear at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival for his feature film Synonymes .

Lapid is a holder of the French order Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres .
