Nadeschda Olimpievna Siber-Schumowa
Nadeschda Olimpijewna Siber-Schumova ( Russian: Надежда Олимпиевна Зибер-Шумова; also Nadine, Nadina, Natalja, N., Sieber, Siber, Ziber-Šumova; May 18, 1854 or May 7, 1856 in Samara , Russian Empire - May 16, 1916 or May 16, 1917) was a Russian doctor.
Life
The daughter of Olimpiy Shumov, hereditary honorary citizen in Samara, attended the Higher Vladimir Courses in Saint Petersburg . From 1875 she studied medicine at the University of Bern . From 1877 she was an employee and from 1884 assistant at the Medical-Chemical Institute there, which was headed by Marcel Nencki . In 1880 Siber-Schumowa received his doctorate in Bern. In 1892 she followed Nencki to St. Petersburg, where he took over the chemical department of the Imperial Institute for Experimental Medicine. After Nencki's death in 1901, she succeeded him in his place.
Under the name "N. Sieber ”published it in German in specialist journals. Among other things, she examined the colored reaction of breast milk with various amines . Together with Anna Wolkowa and Julia Lermontowa she was honored as one of three early chemists of the 19th century.
Nadezhda Siber-Schumowa was married to the Russian economist Nikolai Ivanovich Sieber . Her sister was the physiologist Ekaterina Olimpievna Schumowa-Simanowskaja .
