Burlakowa, who started for Trud Leningrad , won second place in the relay at the Lahti Ski Games in March 1979 . She completed her first World Cup race in February 1983 in Sarajevo , which she finished in third place over 5 km and thus achieved her only podium finish in the individual World Cup. This was followed by two top ten placements and 17th place in the overall World Cup at the end of the season. In the 1983/84 season she reached with five placements in the points, including three top ten placements, 14th place in the overall World Cup. She also came third in the relay in Falun .
