Nadine Paunovic

Nadine Paunovic (born April 30, 1903 in Sarajevo ; † August 3, 1981 in Klosterneuburg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and middle school director. From 1945 to 1949 she was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Paunovic came from an old Austrian family of officers and attended a teacher training institute after primary school. She studied German and English at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Vienna , where she received her doctorate in 1929. In addition, she passed the teaching examination for secondary schools in 1930. She worked as a middle school teacher, but was dismissed without notice in 1938. As a result, she worked in a corsetry factory and gave private lessons. After the Second World War she was appointed middle school director and court councilor. Paunovic was active in the Christian workers 'and salaried employees' movement and represented the ÖVP in the National Council between December 19, 1945 and November 8, 1949. She was also federal leader of the Austrian women's movement from 1945 to 1949 .
