Nadja Lüders (born October 15, 1970 in Witten ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). She has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2010 and General Secretary of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia since 2018 .

biography

Lüders first attended a school in Witten and then switched to the Anne Frank Gymnasium in Werne , where she passed her Abitur examination in 1990. She then began studying law at the University of Münster , which she completed in 1995 with the first state examination. After completing her legal preparatory service at the Dortmund Regional Court , she passed the second state examination in 1998. From 1998 to 1999, he was employed in the field of criminal and administrative offense proceedings at the State Labor Office in North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf . After her admission as a lawyer, she and her husband opened a law firm in Dortmund in 1999 .

Lüders is a member of IG Metall and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt . She is also involved in the Westphalian association BackUp - ComeBack , an advice center for victims of right-wing extremist and racist violence.

Lüders has been a member of the SPD since 1996 and has headed the Dortmund-Lichtendorf local association since 2001. She was deputy chairwoman from 2006 and has been chairwoman of the SPD sub-district of Dortmund since 2014. From 2011 to 2013 she was a member of the Federal Party Executive Committee of the Social Democrats. In June 2018 she was elected General Secretary of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia .

From 2004 to 2009 Lüders was a member of the Dortmund City Council. In the state elections in 2010 , 2012 and 2017 she was elected in constituency 113 (Dortmund III) as a direct candidate in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . She won the constituency in 2010 with 46.0%, 2012 with 52.9% and 2017 with 43.7% of the first votes .

Lüders was the deputy chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group from 2012 until her election as general secretary in 2018. Until March 2015, she was chair of the parliamentary committee of inquiry established in the state parliament in 2014 into the terrorist group National Socialist Underground . In March 2015, she resigned from the chair because, as a lawyer, she had represented the Dortmund neo-Nazi and police murderer Michael Berger in labor court proceedings in relation to a dismissal suit before the AG Dortmund, whose connections to the NSU the committee was supposed to examine. In terms of content and law, the labor court proceedings had no cross-sectional quantities with the later investigations into the NSU.

In the 17th electoral term, she is a member of the Committee for Labor, Health and Social Affairs as well as the control body according to § 23 of the Constitutional Protection Act NRW.
