Nadja Lorenz

Nadja Lorenz (* 1961 in Darmstadt ) is an Austrian lawyer and human rights activist . From 2003 to 2014 she acted as chairwoman of SOS Mitmensch .

life and work

Lorenz came to Vienna at the age of nine, studied law at the University of Vienna and, together with a colleague, insisted that her diploma be issued with the gender-correct title of Magistra . From 2000 to 2003 Lorenz was a member of the Vienna I Commission of the Human Rights Advisory Board of the Austrian Ombudsman's Office , then until 2006 a substitute member of the Human Rights Advisory Board nominated by Amnesty International . Lorenz also works as an expert in asylum and criminal law, as well as for victim protection in the women's legal protection association, which has received several human rights awards. She also acts as a board member of the Association of Austrian Defense Lawyers , is a member of the Austrian Legal Commission and the Asylum Attorney Network , is a member of the Advisory Board of the Basic Rights Section of the Judges' Association and the journal juridikum for Criticism, Law and Society.

Lorenz regularly gives lectures on the topics of asylum law, protection of fundamental rights and criminal law.
