Bruno Kreisky Prize for services to human rights

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bruno Kreisky Prize for Services to Human Rights was launched in 1976 on the occasion of Bruno Kreisky's 65th birthday , as he did not want to accept personal gifts. Companies and institutions that were not part of the social democratic camp in Austria also took part in raising the foundation's capital.

Selection and jury

The prize is awarded every two years to individuals, groups, institutions or projects who have made a contribution to human rights . The prize money is between 7,000 and 30,000 euros.

The award winners are determined by the board of trustees of the Bruno Kreisky Foundation as well as by an international jury. These included Marion Countess Dönhoff , Willy Brandt , Olof Palme , Roland Dumas and their son Peter Kreisky .
