Vian Dakhil Sheikh Saeed ( kurmanji : Vian Daxil Şêx Saîd , Arabic فيان دخيل, DMG Fayān Daḫīl IPA : [ viaːn daːxiːl ], German pronunciation: Vian Da ch il; * 1971 in Sinjar , Iraq ) is a member of the Iraqi parliament . She is the only Yezidi in the Iraqi parliament. Vian Dakhil gained international media fame in August 2014 through her appeal for help in the Iraqi parliament:

"Mr. President, we are being slaughtered under the banner of 'There is no god but Allah'. Our women are sold in slave markets, there is a genocide against the Yazidis . We will be exterminated, our religion will be destroyed. I appeal to your human solidarity, save us. "

Then she collapsed crying.

The video of her cry for help and speech went around the world.

Awards

In 2014, Vian Dakhil was awarded the Anna Politkovskaya Prize for women for her commitment . On June 9, 2015, she and Marijana Grandits received the Bruno Kreisky Prize for services to human rights . In February 2016 she received the Women's Rights Award from the Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy .
