Viola Raheb

Viola Bishara Mitri Al Raheb (born October 2, 1969 in Bethlehem ) is a Palestinian peace activist and theologian.

Viola Raheb grew up in Bethlehem as the daughter of a long-established family of Palestinian Christians and attended the Evangelical Lutheran School, where she graduated from high school in 1987. She studied pedagogy and theology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg ; she completed her studies in 1995.

She is the sister of Mitri Raheb , the director of the International Meeting Center Bethlehem. She was school councilor for Christian schools in Palestine and directed the program of five schools of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL).

On June 29, 2002 Viola Raheb married the musician Marwan Abado , an Austrian citizen of Palestinian origin. Viola Raheb lives with him in Vienna and today works as a freelance consultant in the field of development cooperation and adult education.
