Cecily Corti (born April 17, 1940 in Vienna as Agnes Cäcilia Herberstein ) is known for her work for the homeless in Vienna.

Life

Cecily Corti comes from an old Styrian family. She grew up in Slovenia and had to flee to Austria with her mother and four siblings in 1945. At the end of the war, her father was abducted and murdered by partisans passing through; his fate could never be determined in detail.

After years of fleeing, she came to Salzburg , where she graduated from the Wirtschaftskundliches Realgymnasium (WRG) in Salzburg in 1959 . She then completed several stays abroad in Europe.

As an employee of the Alpbach University Weeks , she met Axel Corti (1933–1993), who worked in radio, television and film , whom she married in 1964 and with whom she has three sons.

In the later years of their marriage she was trained in initiatic therapy by Karlfried Graf Dürckheim and learned ZEN meditation , after which she worked therapeutically with groups and individuals for years.

Cecily Corti is chairwoman of the " Vinzenzgemeinschaft St. Stephan" association founded in 2003 and director of the VinziRast-CortiHaus, which opened in 2004 in the 12th district, a low-threshold emergency shelter for the homeless, expanded in 2008 by 29 places for formerly homeless people (VinziRast-CortiHaus). Corti is also the manager of the other VinziRast facilities for the homeless (VinziRast-Wohngemeinschaft, VinziRast-mittendrin, VinziChance and VinziRast-Home). In May 2013, operations began in the "VinziRast mittendrin", a Biedermeier house bought by Hans Peter Haselsteiner for the association in the 9th district , Währinger Straße 19, where homeless people live with students. In spring 2018 she will hand over the management of the association to the new chairwoman Veronika Kerres.
