Left demo 2015

Frauenberger's position as city councilor was considered unsafe after Michael Ludwig's election as successor to Michael Häupl as regional party leader of the Vienna SPÖ and mayor of Vienna, in which she had supported Andreas Schieder . On April 4, 2018, she announced her resignation for May 24, 2018 and announced that she would continue to work as a member of the Vienna City Council . The reasons she gave was that “no factual, political debate” was possible any more, because criticism was increasingly directed against her on a personal level. Further problems in her department were the delays in the construction of the Vienna North Hospital and disputes about the reorganization of the Vienna Hospital Association .

On May 24, 2018, she was succeeded by Peter Hacker as the City Councilor for Health and Welfare, and Frauenberger was sworn in as a member of parliament. Frauenberger succeeded Kathrin Gaál as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and member of the Vienna City Council in the 20th electoral term . In February 2019, Stephan Auer-Stüger succeeded her as a member of the state parliament and municipal council, after she resigned from her mandate.
