Provincial government and city senate Häupl IV is an unofficial name for the Vienna city senate, at the same time provincial government , under the mayor and governor Michael Häupl in the term of office 2005-2010. The election took place in the municipal council on November 18, 2005; the term of office ended on November 25, 2010 with the election of the mayor and city senate.

During the tenure of the city senate and the state government, there were several changes within the government team. On November 22, 2006, Eduard Schock resigned as a city councilor in favor of Johann Herzog and took over the chairmanship of the FPÖ club in the Vienna City Hall. The composition of the Gusenbauer federal government led to further changes: Johannes Hahn and Werner Faymann left the state government on January 10, 2007 and one day later became science and transport ministers. On January 25, 2007, Sepp Rieder also retired. The successors of the resigned members of the government were sworn in on January 25, 2007. Norbert Walter succeeded Johannes Hahn as city councilor. Renate Brauner , formerly city councilor for health and social affairs, took over the agendas of Sepp Rieder. Sonja Wehsely , previously city councilor for integration, women's issues, consumer protection and personnel, took over the health and social department. Wehsely's area of responsibility was subsequently handed over to the new city councilor Sandra Frauenberger . Michael Ludwig succeeded Werner Faymann as the new city councilor for housing. After the National Council election in 2008 , Katharina Cortolezis-Schlager also left the government and moved to the National Council. Isabella Leeb was elected as the new city councilor in her place . On March 23, 2009, Grete Laska announced her resignation as acting city councilor and second deputy mayor, followed by Christian Oxonitsch as city councilor and Michael Ludwig as deputy mayor.
