Sonja Wehsely (2009)

Sonja Wehsely (born March 19, 1970 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1996 she was a member of the Vienna state parliament and municipal council , from 2004 city councilor in the state government and city senate from Häupl III to Häupl VI . Following her political activities, she moved to the Siemens Group in 2017 .

Life

After graduating from the Bundesrealgymnasium Vereinsgasse in the 2nd district in 1988, she studied law at the University of Vienna and graduated in 1995 with the academic degree Magister.

Like her sister Tanja Wehsely , Sonja Wehsely has been politically active since her youth. From 1992 to 1993 she was chairwoman of the Socialist Youth Vienna. At the age of 26, she became a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council in the 16th electoral term .

On July 1, 2004, Mayor Michael Häupl appointed her city councilor for integration, women's issues, consumer protection and personnel . After the reorganization of the Viennese provincial government on January 25, 2007, Wehsely took over the health and social affairs of Renate Brauner . She resigned on January 26, 2017; the reason given was the prospect of the negative audit report on the North Hospital, which was being prepared at the time . She was succeeded by Sandra Frauenberger, the former City Councilor for Education, as City Councilor for Health.

On April 1, 2017, she moved to Siemens Healthineers as a manager . Due to the diverse business relationships of this company with the city of Vienna, which is also said to be involved in the North Hospital, this change caused severe criticism.

Wehsely is the partner of SPÖ politician Andreas Schieder , with whom she has a son.
