action

Shuji Ito and Hiroyuki Yoshida are 16 years old, classmates at a Japanese high school and best friends. However, their friendship is put to the test when they both begin to fall in love. While Ito slowly develops feelings for his best friend, Yoshida falls in love with Kasane Aihara, a new and closed classmate of the two. When Ito befriends Aihara and finally admits to her how he feels about Yoshida, she initially keeps her distance from Yoshida. A complicated love triangle arises in which the three main characters try not to hurt each other's feelings. Yoshida wants to make it clear to his best friend that he cannot be with him, while Aihara does not want to have a relationship with Yoshida out of consideration for Ito. The friendship of the three threatens to break due to the complicated situation. Yoshida begins to avoid his former best friend and instead tries everything to get Aihara.

After all, Aihara travels back to her small hometown a few days before the summer vacation after calling in sick, mainly to find some distance from Yoshida. When Yoshida learns that Aihara has been raped and that she is so distant as a result, he decides to follow her. Together with Ito, who is the only one who knows where the place is, he drives to Aihara and asks her forgiveness. Aihara doesn't want to see him, however, and is angry with Ito for bringing him to her.

The encounter between the three ends in a violent confrontation on the beach at night. Aihara wants to know if Yoshida would have fallen in love with her too if she were a boy herself. When he kept trying to explain to her that he was only attracted to women, she dragged him away without a word and wanted to sleep with him. Ito sees them kissing and swims out to sea, where he almost drowns. Yoshida, who previously failed to sleep with Aihara, can save him only at the last second. After Yoshida was able to resuscitate Ito, the two sit on the beach and are pelted with sand by an angry Aihara. In the end, however, Aihara hugs them both in tears.
