Nahanni Butte ( Slavey : Tthenáágó "strong rock") is a "Designated Authority" in the Dehcho Region in the Northwest Territories , Canada . The parish is located at the confluence of the Liard and South Nahanni Rivers in the southwestern part of the NWT. An all-weather road is being built. At the moment a winter road is being constructed every winter.
Dick Turner, a trapper , bush pilot, and shop owner among others , moved from Calgary to Nahanni Butte in the 1930s . He wrote three books.
The 2006 census counted 115 inhabitants.
The Dene of the community are represented by the Nahanni Butte Dene Band and belong to the Dehcho First Nations .
