Kakisa ( Slavey : K'agee ; "between willows") is a Designated Authority in the Dehcho Region in the Northwest Territories , Canada .
The community is located on the lake of the same name , southeast of Fort Providence . Originally located on Tathlina Lake , the community moved in 1962 to where it is today, closer to the Mackenzie Highway . This is connected to the highway by a 13 km long road.
Demographics
There is an increase in population in Kakisa. In 1996 the statisticians still counted 36, 2001 already 40 and in the last census in 2006 they counted 55 inhabitants. All residents spoke English, the most widely spoken language was South Slavey for 20 people and English for 25 and 35 people respectively. The Dene of the community are represented by the Ka'agee Tu First Nation and belong to the Dehcho First Nations .
Services
The nearest Royal Canadian Mounted Police Station is in Fort Providence . There is no health care and only one grocery store. "Kakisa Lake School" goes up to 10th grade.
