The local recreation area Mainaue , regionally called " Kieswäsch" , is a bathing lake in the west of Kulmbach , Bavaria .
location
The lake is located in the far west of Kulmbach and borders directly on Mainleus . The federal highway B289 is in the immediate vicinity. Access to the unfenced lake is free of charge. There is a free gravel parking lot that is accessible all year round during the day. The Mainz confluence at Schloss Steinenhausen is not far away, where the White and Red Main meet to form the Main .
description
The dredging pits of former gravel extraction were redesigned as a local recreation area. The lake area is 26 hectares. The bathing area extends over 3.5 hectares. Toilets, changing rooms and showers, a snack and a beer garden are available directly on the lake. Well-tended lawns with shady trees are laid out on the lake. There is a beach volleyball court and a playground . There are also three barbecue areas. There is a fishing area on the opposite side of the bathing area . An island that has a shallow water depth to the shore and is also accessible on foot for smaller children (20 meters) makes for a special attraction in the lake.
The Plassenburg is visible from the lake.
The lake is supervised by the water watch during the bathing season .
In winter, the frozen lake is used for ice skating .
