Naim Uludoğan

Naim Uludoğan (* 1911 in Shkodra , Albania , † December 18, 2010 in İstanbul ) was a Turkish retired officer and painter who is in the tradition of Turkish military painters .

life and work

Uludoğan attended elementary school in Bursa before going to military high school. There he also received his first painting lessons from Sami Yetik . In 1933 he graduated from the Military Academy with the rank of lieutenant in the infantry. In 1938 he worked with the rank of first lieutenant in the map department of the armed forces. In 1947 he became a member of the Association of Soldier Painters. In the same year he took part in a group exhibition in the officers' mess in Ankara. He then became a drawing teacher at military educational institutions until he retired in 1950. In 1952 he took part in a group exhibition in Konya organized by the township. Between 1965 and 1980 he gained fame in Turkey through his exhibitions held under the concept of father daughter , in which both artistic creations were presented together with his daughter Ülkü Uludoğan . In addition to Turkey, there were also exhibitions in Frankfurt, Cologne, Hanover and Kassel with this motto, as well as in Romania. On the occasion of Ataturk's centenary, the Ministry of Culture organized a solo exhibition by Uludoğan in the Ankara Ethnographic Museum . In 1982 his pictures were shown in a group exhibition in the collection of the Turkish İş Bank in London. In 1983 he had an exhibition in Adana and in the same year his pictures were shown in group exhibitions of the Urart Collection in Bahrain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In 1991 there was another father and daughter exhibition in the Destek Reasürans art gallery ... Uludoğan now lives in Istanbul.

During his painting career, Uludoğan also held a variety of exhibitions for charity. His work as a sculptor is less well known. Here, too, he had successes, several of his statues were exhibited publicly, including in Cyprus ...

Uludoğan's works can be viewed permanently in the Museum of Art in Ankara.

Prizes and awards

  • 1952 2nd place in a painting competition of the Konya municipality
  • 1982 3rd place in the 2nd Ataturk painting competition , held by Turkish Petroleum
  • In 1984 he received an award from the Turkish Ministry of Culture for his service to Turkish art.
  • In 1988 he received the award for 50 years of service to the arts from the greater Istanbul community.
  • In 1991 he received the Oyak Plakete .
