Nalbert Tavares Bitencourt , known as Nalbert (born March 9, 1974 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian volleyball player . He became an Olympic and world champion.

Career

Nalbert took part with the Brazilian national team three times in a row (1996, 2000 and 2004) in the Olympic Games and won the gold medal in Athens in 2004 . In addition, there was gold at the 2002 World Cup and several victories at the World Cup and in the volleyball world league .

Nalbert played mainly for Brazilian clubs, but was also active in Italy with Lube Macerata (2001 and 2003 Italian Cup victory and 2001 CEV Cup ), Pallavolo Modena and Japan with the Panasonic Panthers.

Nalbert has received several awards as “Most Valuable Player” ( MVP ), “Best Points Collector ” and “Best Defender”. In 2014 he was inducted into the " Volleyball Hall of Fame ".

Nalbert also had some appearances in beach volleyball on the FIVB World Tour .
