The National Art Gallery of Namibia ( English National Art Gallery of Namibia ) is the national arts and cultural center in Windhoek , Namibia . The National Gallery promotes the conservation and maintenance of art in Namibia. The current director (as of January 2018) is Hercules Viljoen. Between 2005 and 2011 it was Joe Madisia .

The National Gallery also contains an internationally respected permanent exhibition of Namibian, African and European art, as well as exhibitions by local artists such as Uli Aschenborn (see left). It is divided into three areas:

  • NAGN exhibition: art gallery collectibles since 2005
  • GRN exhibition: Works of art by the government of Namibia that were transferred to the NAGN in 2000
  • AAHT Exhibition: Artworks from the Arts Association Heritage Trust that were transferred to NAGN in 2003
