Nammo AS is a Norwegian arms company based in Raufoss . The group of companies is active worldwide with subsidiaries. It mainly produces infantry ammunition and weapons. In addition, it is one of the leading providers in the specialty business of ammunition destruction in Europe. The company has particular expertise in the disposal of so-called cluster munitions from its German location . The Norwegian state holds 50% of the shares in Nammo under the administration of the Nærings- og fiskeridepartementet .
history
In 1998 the current group was created through the merger of Patria Industries Oyj, Finland, Celsius AB, Sweden and Raufoss ASA, Norway (founded in 1896 as Rødfoss Patronfabrik). In 2005 Patria Oyj and the Norwegian state each had a 50% stake in the company.
In Germany, Nammo Buck GmbH in Storkow (Mark) , Nammo Schönebeck GmbH (formerly Lapua GmbH ) in Schönebeck and 60% of ND PressTec GmbH in Schwerte are members of the group.
