Nana is the self-titled debut album by the German - Ghanaian rapper Nana . It was released on May 19, 1997 on the Motor Music label.

The music producers Bülent Aris and Toni Cottura acted as executive producers for the album . Also worked Rollocks and Jan van der Toorn with as co-producer.
Cover design
The album cover is kept simple and shows Nana's logo - a silver N surrounded by a hexagon - on a black background. At the top of the picture is the silver lettering Nana .

Chart successes and singles
Nana entered the German album charts at number 6 on June 2, 1997 and four weeks later reached the top position at number 4. Overall, the album was able to stay in the top 100 for 45 weeks. It came in 6th in Switzerland and 22nd in Austria.
The first single Darkman was released in late 1996 and reached number 9 in the German charts. The second release, Lonely , was particularly successful, becoming a number one hit in Germany and Switzerland, while it was second in Austria. Then the singles Let It Rain (DE # 12) and He's Comin ' (DE # 4) were released. Music videos were shot for all releases .
Sales figures and awards
In the year of its release, the album received a gold record in Germany for over 250,000 sales and in Switzerland for more than 25,000 units sold . At the 1998 Echo Awards , Nana won the national artist of the year and national newcomer of the year categories for his debut album .
The single Lonely was awarded a platinum record in 1997 for over 500,000 copies sold in Germany , making it one of the best-selling rap songs in Germany . In addition, the release He's Comin 'received a gold record for more than 250,000 sales in Germany.
