Pappa Bear (* in the 20th century in Curaçao , Netherlands Antilles ; real name Godwijn June Orlando Ray Rollocks , June Rollocks for short ) is a Dutch rapper .

biography

Born in the Netherlands Antilles, Pappa Bear began his career as a chef . He completed his apprenticeship as the best of his year and became Chef de Cuisine . After helping his sister Daisy Rollocks, better known as Daisy Dee , with the production of her songs in the early 1990s , he joined the group Black Male, with whom he released three songs.

In 1996 Pappa Bear joined the Booya Music label. The label was founded by Toni Cottura , Bülent Aris and Holger Storm and marketed artists such as Nana , AK-SWIFT or Mark Wahlberg alias Marky Mark and produced greats such as the Backstreet Boys and * NSYNC .

After initially appearing as a guest rapper in songs by Nana and supporting him in the promotion of his first album, he released an interpretation of the Kool & the Gang classic Cherish together with Jan van der Toorn in autumn 1997 and landed an international hit with it . In spring 1998 he followed suit (with van der Toorn at his side) and seamlessly continued his first success with the song When the Rain Begins to Fall .

The first album What's My Name was released in May 1998. The third single was Hunny Luv , again successfully supported by Van der Toorn, who took care of the chorus again.

The second album should have been released in 2000, but this failed because the Booya Music label broke up. The song Wunderful Life could be found on the internet . Since then it has become very quiet around Pappa Bear. In 2009 Pappa Bear released new tracks on his MySpace page. Among other things, he covered Jeanny von Falco . In 2010 he was planning a comeback.
