Nana Göbel

Nana Christiane Göbel (born November 29, 1955 in Pforzheim ) is a German Waldorf educator and author of anthroposophical writings. She was on the board and general secretary of the Anthroposophical Society in Germany and is a co-founder of the Friends of Waldorf Education . She is committed to the worldwide spread of Waldorf education.

Life

Nana Göbel attended the Waldorf School in Pforzheim (Goethe School). She studied classical archeology, history and Egyptology in Tübingen, Munich and Bonn. In 1976 she co-founded the Friends of Waldorf Education , of which she has been a board member since 1978. The task of this association is the financing of independent schools, in particular Waldorf schools, kindergartens, curative educational institutions and social work projects worldwide. From 1983 to 1986 Göbel was Jörgen Smit's assistant, responsible for international youth work at the Goetheanum in Dornach , Switzerland . From 1987 to 1996 she worked for the GLS community bank in Bochum . From 1993 to 1996 she was a member of the board of the Gemeinnützige Treuhandstelle eV in Bochum with a focus on the financing of art, educational and cultural projects, especially in Eastern Europe . From 2002 to 2008 Göbel was a board member of the Anthroposophical Society in Germany and from 2003 to 2008 its general secretary.

Göbel campaigned for the Waldorf school movement and the founding of Waldorf schools in more than 60 countries. In China, Waldorf schools are among the fastest growing educational alternatives to the state school system.
