Way of life
Like all night monkeys, they are nocturnal and usually stay in the trees. There they move on all fours and jump away. To sleep, they retreat to tree hollows or plant thickets during the day.
They live in monogamous family groups of two to five animals, which consist of a male, a female and their offspring. The partners often stay together for years. They are territorial animals, their territories cover around 9 hectares. They mark their territories with sounds against their fellow species and defend them if necessary.
The diet of these animals consists mainly of fruits. To a lesser extent, they consume flowers and other parts of plants as well as insects.
After a gestation period of around 133 days, the female usually gives birth to one, rarely two young animals. Mainly the fathers take care of the offspring. They carry him and only make him suckle for the mothers.
