"The Dead Poets Club"

Kleinbaum's novel Dead Poets Society is less an independent literary work than a kind of merchandising product that owes its existence to Hollywood's production conditions. This book, a movie-tie in , is aimed at viewers who want to deepen or re-evoke the impression of the film by reading it afterwards. "The perception of the novel is controlled by the imagery of the film and, in general, by expectations that are based less on experiences with literature than on the cinema."
