Nancy Saunders

Nancy Saunders (* 29. June 1925 in Los Angeles , California as Nancy Sanders ) is an American actress . In her more than sixty-year career, she has appeared in almost forty films and television series.

Life

Nancy Saunders was born Nancy Sanders in Los Angeles in 1925. In 1946 she discovered a talent agent through whom she got her first small role in The Bamboo Blonde that same year . After further insignificant appearances as an extra, Saunders got the role of secretary Miss Wyatt in the film noir The Locket , but remained unnamed in the credits.

In the following years Saunders starred in several dozen films, including mostly in supporting roles. These include small appearances in the film noirs The Locket and The Woman on the Beach . An exception was the 1947 drama The Millerson Case , in which she played the leading female role. Saunders also appeared in three short films by The Three Stooges : I'm a Monkey's Uncle from 1948, The Ghost Talks from 1949 and Stone Age Romeos from 1955.

In 1947, Nancy Saunders was engaged as a double for Rita Hayworth in several scenes in The Lady of Shanghai . A year later she doubled Hayworth again in Love Nights in Seville .

In 1957, Saunders ended her acting career for nearly forty years before returning to acting in 1996 with a guest role on the television series American Gothic . This was followed by another guest appearance in Dawson's Creek in 1998 and in 2003 the role as an old woman in Killegrew in the short film Two Soldiers . After a role in the television movie Whatever Happened , Saunders ended her active career at the age of 86. Her entire filmography includes 38 appearances in films and television series. In 2015, however, she appeared in various roles in three episodes of the documentary series Hey Moe, Hey Dad about The Three Stooges .

Nancy Saunders was married to Marcus McCallen from 1960 until his death in 2003.
