Ko Nang Yuan ( Thai : เกาะ นาง ยวน , Thai: Turtle Island ) is a small island off the southeast coast of Thailand in the Gulf of Thailand .
geography
Ko Nang Yuan is directly in front of the island Ko Tao , from where there are also regular boat connections. Close to Ko Nang Yuan are two other rocky islands, which are connected by a sandbank that is partially under water at high tide. Directly north of Ko Nang Yuan is the tiny Ko Nang Yuan Lek ( เกาะ นาง ยวน เล็ก ), on which there is a diving school . To the north is Ko Hang Tao ( เกาะ หางเต่า - Turtle Tail Island). All three islands belong to the district ( amphoe ) Ko Pha-ngan of the province Surat Thani .
Large sea turtles inhabited the islands until a few decades ago. Ko Nang Yuan was uninhabited and only visited by fishermen. Today it is privately owned. The severely decimated sea turtles are being bred again on the island today.
tourism
Since 1986 some bungalows for tourists, a restaurant and a diving center have been built. There are areas suitable for scuba diving in the immediate vicinity of Ko Nang Yuan and Ko Tao .
