Nanni Balestrini
Nanni Balestrini (born July 2, 1935 in Milan - † May 20, 2019 in Rome ) was an Italian writer and a radical political activist of Italian operaism .
life and work
Nanni Balestrini was editor of the magazine Il Verri , co-director of Alfabeta and was one of the group of Italian writers who published in the 1961 anthology I Novissimi . In the 1960s, this group expanded to the Gruppo 63 , whose publications Balestrini edited. From 1962 to 1972 he also worked as an editor at the Feltrinelli publishing house , cooperated with the Marsilio publishing house and published editions of the Cooperativa Scrittori .
In 1968 Balestrini co-founded the Potere operaio group , and in 1976 a supporter of Autonomia . In 1979 he was accused of membership in the guerrilla and fled to Paris and later to Germany.
Balestrini became known to a larger audience in the early 1970s through his first novel We want everything . In it he describes the fights and clashes in the FIAT car factory . The social movements of the time remained his theme in the years that followed. With the book Die Invisbaren , he set a literary monument to the "Generation of 1977" . On the one hand, the spirit of optimism of those years becomes clear, which was reflected in squatting, the founding of free radios and others, but at the same time he describes the repression on the part of the state on these movements. Other important works include I Furiosi , which is dedicated to AC Milan's football fan culture, and The Publisher , which relates to Giangiacomo Feltrinelli . His closeness to operaism is particularly evident in his book The Golden Horde , which he wrote together with Primo Moroni . Most recently he published the novel Sandokan , which is about the Camorra in Casal di Principe .
