The Napier Mountains are a group of more or less separated mountains of up to 2,300 m in the East Antarctic Enderbyland . They extend over a length of 60 km in a north-west-south-east orientation. Its center is about 60 km south of Cape Batterbee .
The mountains were discovered in January 1930 during the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE; 1929–1931) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . This named it after Thomas John Mellis Napier (1882-1976), from 1924 to 1967 judge at the Supreme Court of South Australia .
