Napoleon Bridge (Trier)

Napoleon Bridge

The Napoleon Bridge is a single arched vault bridge made of sandstone with a span of 24 meters over the valley of the Sirzenich brook in Trier-Pallien ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). It belongs to Bitburger Strasse in Trier and is part of federal highway 51 .

The bridge was built at the time of Napoleon's reign under the direction of the French engineer PA Gautarel in 1804. Towards the end of the Second World War it was blown up in 1945 and rebuilt in 1948.

The bridge shapes the landscape and is a cultural monument .
