Products

Quill

Quill is an advanced natural language generation technology powered by artificial intelligence and provided as Software as a Service (SaaS). Automated narrative generation algorithms take raw data, determine the meaning of the data, and then generate easy-to-understand descriptions and explanations in natural language. Chief developer Kris Hammond explains the platform's process as "data analysis for meaning and insight." The software uses certain groups of data to explain to users questions about the state of the world. To this day, Quill can only write in English.

Quill Engage

In March 2014, Narrative Science launched Quill Engage, a free Google Analytics application that delivers natural language reports to website owners. The application analyzes historical data and trends from Google Analytics to produce both weekly and monthly reports that are delivered in narrative form. Quill Engage reports metrics and performance indicators for users, such as content engagement, web traffic and sources, referrals, paid search, and audience segmentation. The technology is carried out by the Narrative Science Quill platform.

Investors

Narrative Science has multiple investors, including SAP and In-Q-Tel , the CIA's equity fund.

Clientele and field of work

The CIA and financial markets are main target groups. The main sources for data acquisition are e.g. B. Forbes Magazine and Wall Street .

“Quill” is also used in the journalism department. First, articles about sports results as well as weather reports, i.e. articles with heavy numbers, are written by Narrative Science. But Narrative Science has announced its intention to win the Pulitzer Prize for Outstanding Journalism by 2017 .

Customers include American Century Investments, Mastercard and the National Health Service of England.
