Giesel is part of the large community of Neuhof , district of Fulda , in East Hesse, which is located in the Fulda diocese in the Fulda deanery .
This is a list of the Roman Catholic pastors in Giesel since the founding of the parish in 1731 by Prince Abbot Adolf von Dalberg and the Filialgemeinde Mariä Geburt in Istergiesel from 1830 until it was separated under Bishop Heinz Josef Algermissen in 2006. That year Istergiesel became a filial parish assigned to the parish of John the Baptist in Johannesberg .

At first there was no parish of its own in Giesel .
- A chapel existed as a branch of Haimbach as early as 1150 . A ruined chapel dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene was consecrated , was mentioned on the occasion of its reconstruction in 1330.
- In 1333 a castle chaplain, Nikolaus Roslon, was named for Giesel.

In the historical processing of Giesel's prehistory, the “Descriptio Paroch. Fuld. ”From 1676 shows that there was a vicarie long before the Thirty Years War (1618–1648) . Between 1517 and 1648, the time of the Reformation , efforts were made to bring about confessional changes in the area of the Fulda Abbey . The Protestant chaplain Peter Bang worked in Giesel from 1569 to 1573. In 1594 the now mentioned castle chapel belonged to the parish of Haimbach like the inhabitants of the village .
In 1604, on the occasion of a re-Catholicization under Prince Abbot Balthasar von Dernbach, the last inhabitants returned to the Catholic faith. From 1632 to 1634 the Protestant preacher Magister Bremer worked in Giesel during the Hessian occupation under Wilhelm V of Hessen-Kassel . In 1657, probably under the pastor of Haimbach, Eberhardt Sigler (1639) (Ziegler, Zigler) , the baptismal font that still exists in the parish church was erected. In 1659, the Haimbach pastor Johann Kaspar Pfaff (1659–1661), who was also responsible for Giesel, started his own church records for Giesel at the Haimbach parish. Foundation of the parish of Giesel
In 1731, under Prince Abbot Adolf von Dalberg, the village, church and castle and the pilgrimage chapel "Zum Hl. Kreuz" (in the forest valley near Kleinlüder) were separated from the Roman Catholic parish of St. Markus Haimbach and became a separate parish with a parish church and one Pastor in the dean's office in Großenlüder . The Giesel parish now also included the pilgrimage chapel in Kleinheiligkreuz , the “Schlagberg” and the “Hessenmühle” (until 1961, then the parish of Kleinlüder ). In 1856 construction began on St. Laurentius Church, which was consecrated on August 4, 1861 by Bishop Christoph Florentius Kött . In 1910 the parish had 822 souls. 621 of them lived in Giesel together with ten Protestants. In 1961, after around 100 years of use, the parish church, consecrated in 1861, was demolished due to rising damp in the masonry and the growing community. It had to give way to a larger and modern new building and was consecrated on June 3, 1962 by the Fulda auxiliary bishop and later bishop Eduard Schick .
With the reorganization of the diocese of Fulda due to the emerging shortage of priests from 2002 under Bishop Heinz Josef Algermissen , the subsidiary community of Mary's Birth (Istergiesel) was assigned to the parish of Johannes the Baptist, Johannesberg in 2006. With the entry of the last Giesel pastor into retirement due to reaching the canonical age as a priest, also in 2006, Giesel was assigned to the pastoral association of St. Antonius of Padua, Fulda-West and the dean's office of Fulda and is currently the pastor of the parish of St. Markus, Haimbach co-administered administratively.
