history

The place name is derived from the stream name Gleene (small). The name of the village changed from Niedernglein and Nider Gleene to today's Niederklein. In the dialect the place is called Glee .

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the community of Niederklein came to the city of Allendorf, district of Marburg (then the official name of the city) by virtue of state law .

The Catholic parish church of St. Blasius and St. Elisabeth was built in the Baroque style at the beginning of the 17th century after a fire that destroyed large parts of the village next to the church and in 1911, in contrast, was decorated with church images in the neo-Gothic style. In 1923 the church received bells from the Geittner foundry from Breslau, which was bought by the Otto bell foundry from Hemelingen / Bremen in 1929 . These bells were melted down during World War II. In their place, the bell founder Otto cast four new bronze bells for St. Blasius Church in 1950. The bells have the following sequence of strikes: f - a flat - b - c.
