The Narxoz University ( Kazakh Нархоз университеті Narchos uniwersiteti , Russian Университет Нархоз Uniwersitet Narchos ) is a private business university in the Kazakh city of Almaty .
history
The founding of the university goes back to a decision by the Soviet government on May 9, 1963. Accordingly, the Alma-Ata Institute for Economics (Алма-Атинский институт народного хозяйства) was founded on August 20, 1963 , which initially only had a two-story teaching building and had a small dormitory. In the following years, the facility was enlarged and two more teaching buildings and two dormitories were added.
In 1973 the number of teachers was already more than 330. In the same year, a complex of student dormitories was also opened. The institute also opened branches in Astana (Nur-Sultan since 2019) , Aqtöbe and Schymkent . Between 1981 and 1982 around 10,205 students studied at the Almaty Institute for Economics, and 540 teachers were employed (including 16 professors and doctors and 218 lecturers and doctoral students ).
After Kazakhstan's independence from the Soviet Union , the institute was elevated to the status of a university in 1991 and at the same time renamed the Kazakh State Economic University (Казахский государственный экономический университет). On February 25, 1993, the university was given a new name by a decree of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev . Since then it has been called the Kazakh State Academy of Management (Казахскую государственную академию управления).
On May 23, 2000, the Kazakh government decided to convert the academy in honor of the former chairman of the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of Turkestan , Turar Rysqulov , to the Kazakh Rysqulov State Economic University (Казахский экономический университет).
The university has been called Narxoz University since 2016.
