Nasar Hontschar ( Ukrainian Назар Михайлович Гончар ; scientific transliteration Nazar Mychajlovyč Hončar ; born April 20, 1964 in Lviv , USSR ; † May 21, 2009 in Uzhhorod ) was a Ukrainian poet and writer . For his publications in German-speaking countries he used the transliteration spelling without patronage Nazar Hončar .

biography

Nasar Honchar was born on April 20, 1964 in Lviv, studied Ukrainian philology at the Ivan Franko University there and graduated in 1986. During the challenging years of transition, he initially worked for a few years in the field of regional studies for young tourists, then for archaeological expeditions. In 1990 he began to appear as an actor in the Les Kurbas Theater. Various projects in the field of theater and poetry performances followed. From this he formed and lived his life as a poet, actor, performance artist and translator. As was customary, he was a member of various groups of artists: he was a member of the group Heraclitus (Голінні ентузіасти рака літерального, Brave enthusiasts of the palindrome, 1991) Selber he founded with two friends the literary group LuHoSad ( Lutschuk -Hontschar-Sadlowskyj, 1984) and the poetry theater Театр Ледачої Істоти (1991) and the performance studio PERHAPS (2004). Scholarships took him to Poland and Austria, where translations of his works were immediately published. After these international successes, he died on May 21, 2009 at the age of 45 while bathing as a result of a heart defect. The extraordinary artist was buried in the Lychakiv Cemetery with great sympathy from Lviv writers . Honchar was married to the Germanist and translator Chrystyna Nazarkewytsch, with whom he had a son. She translated his poems into German.

As a performance artist, Hontschar cultivated and developed the small forms, which he knew how to formulate and write in his calm and amiable way with a philosophical eye in a sharp and substantial way. He loved puns and wrote palindromes. A comics poem (1993) was followed by several volumes of poetry, which were translated into Polish by Bohdan Zadura as well as Aneta Kamińska and Andrij Porytko during two literary grants in Poland and in the German translation by Chrystyna Nazarkewytsch during his stay as town clerk in Graz. As a philologist, he also devoted himself to translation and transcribed German-language poems by Gottfried Benn, Günter Gass, Christian Loidl, Tarek Eltayeb as well as poems by the Belarusian Viktor Zhybul and the Crimean Tartar Medat Abljalimov.
