Nasrin Siege (* 1950 in Tehran , Iran ) is a German-Iranian children's book author, collector of African fairy tales and development worker living in Africa.

Live and act

The native Iranian came to Germany with her family at the age of nine. Here she grew up in Hamburg and Flensburg . After studying psychology and education at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , she worked as a psychotherapist at a psychosomatic clinic in Friedrichsdorf / Ts with addicts. With her husband, a German development worker, she has lived in Africa (Tanzania, Zambia, Tanzania, Madagascar and, since 2008, in Ethiopia) - with brief interruptions - since 1983. Nasrin Siege is involved in street children projects in Africa, which she supports both with advice and financially with the means of the association "Help for Africa eV" founded by her and friends. Nasrin Siege writes books for children and young people with an intercultural approach and collects African fairy tales. She also writes articles in anthologies, yearbooks and the children's magazine Der Bunte Hund . For her books Sombo, the girl from the river (1990) and How the river in my village (1994), published by Beltz & Gelberg , Siege received the 1994 Children's Book Prize from the Berlin Senate's commissioner for foreigners. In 2006 she received the Two Wings Award for her work in children's aid projects.

Nasrin Siege has been involved in children's aid projects in Tanzania, Zambia, Madagascar and Ethiopia since 1994, which she supports financially with the association “Hilfe für Afrika eV”.
