The National Bureau of Air Accidents Investigation of Ukraine ( NBAAI ; German  National Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation Ukraine , Ukrainian Національне бюро з розслідування авіаційних подій та інцидентів з цивільними повітряними суднами , National Office for the investigation of accidents and incidents involving civil aircraft ') is the Authority for the Investigation of Incidents of Civil Aviation of Ukraine . It was established in 2012 by Decree No. 228 of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, to which it has been subordinate since then, and is located in the building of the Ministry of Infrastructure in Kiev .

The NBAAI investigates flight accidents , incidents, disruptions and emergencies as well as violations of the airspace control in Ukraine or by Ukrainian aircraft abroad. It also publishes recommendations on flight safety and represents Ukraine in relevant international organizations.

In July 2014, as the competent authority, it took over the management of the aircraft accident investigation after the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight 17 near Tores , Donetsk Oblast . At the request of the international community, after a week the management was handed over to the Dutch Onderzoeksraad voor Veiligheid , but remained involved in the investigations.
