The 2011/12 season was the 16th season in the second highest South African men's soccer division, the National First Division . As relegated players from the Premier Soccer League , Mpumalanga Black Aces and Vasco da Gama replace last year's newly promoted Jomo Cosmos and Black Leopards . The relegated Hanover Park FC and Batau FC will be replaced by the newly promoted Chippa United and Sivutsa Stars . The season started on August 13, 2011 and ended on May 20, 2012. Pretoria University rose directly to the top, while the promoted Chippa United and Thanda Royal Zulu had to relegate. There Chippa United was able to prevail as the second promoted team. The clubs Atlie FC and Dynamos FC had to relegate .

Relegation

The relegation tournament started on May 23 and ended on June 30, 2012. The fifteenth of the Premier Soccer League 2011/12 ( Santos Cape Town ), the second ( Chippa United ) and the third of the National First Division 2011/12 ( Thanda Royal Zulu ) in a return match each. At the end of the tournament, the top of the table qualified for the Premier Soccer League 2012/13 , while the other two clubs had to play in the National First Division 2012/13 . The winner of the tournament was the newly promoted Chippa United, who immediately rose again after last year's promotion, while Santos Cape Town had to go into the second division.
